Terms of use
These terms cover Cairn, Chuckbox and Haversack, on the web and on iPhone, and the login and household they share with the other Everyday Compass apps. Operation Pathfinders has its own terms (opens in a new tab). By using the apps you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. Questions: support@everydaycompasslife.com.
Your account and household
- You need to be an adult to create an account or a household. Kids can be added to a household by an adult and do not sign in to Cairn, Chuckbox or Haversack.
- Keep your password and sign-in links to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your login.
- The adult who starts a household can invite others and choose their roles. Everyone you invite can see the household’s records according to that role, so invite only people you trust with them.
- Only enter information you have the right to share, about yourself and the people in your household.
What the apps are, and aren’t
Cairn suggests cleaning jobs and times and keeps track of home and vehicle maintenance; Chuckbox organizes recipes, meal plans and grocery lists; Haversack keeps track of the clothes in your household. They are planning tools, not professional advice.
- You decide what is safe in your home. Read the labels on cleaning products, keep them away from children, and don’t mix chemicals. Cairn’s “safe for kids” marking is a guide, not a guarantee; an adult decides what each child can do.
- Recipes and grocery quantities come from what you enter or import. Check for allergies, food safety and cooking times yourself. Chuckbox does not give nutrition or medical advice.
- Maintenance reminders are based on the schedules, readings and dates you enter. Follow your vehicle’s and equipment’s manuals and a qualified mechanic or technician; Cairn can’t tell whether a car, tire or system is safe.
- Imported recipes come from other websites. Import only for your household’s own use, and respect the original author’s rights.
Free trials and memberships
- Every household gets a 30-day free trial of each app. No card is needed, and nothing is charged when it ends.
- After the trial, you can buy a membership for one app or the bundle of every Everyday Compass app, monthly or yearly, on our website (through Stripe) or in the iPhone apps (through the App Store). The price, any tax and the renewal terms are shown before you pay.
- A membership belongs to the household, not to one person, and works on the web and on iPhone wherever it was bought. It renews automatically each month or year until it is canceled, and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
- Bought on the website: cancel any time from Manage billing on the Household page.
- Bought in an iPhone app: payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. It renews unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and the renewal is charged within the 24 hours before that. Manage or cancel it in your iPhone’s Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions. Apple’s standard terms for apps (opens in a new tab) also apply to App Store purchases, and refunds for them are handled by Apple.
- Deleting your account doesn’t automatically refund a payment or cancel an App Store subscription. Contact support about refunds for website purchases.
Using the service fairly
Don’t try to reach another household’s records, misuse invitations or sharing links, pretend to be someone else, overload or interfere with the service, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend an account that does.
Changes and availability
The apps are new and will change as we build them. We may add, change or remove features, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. We will tell you before a change to these terms or to pricing that affects you, and before we change how we use your information.
You can stop using the apps at any time. To delete your account, see Support.
Responsibility
We work to keep the apps accurate, secure and available, but we provide them as they are, without promises that they will always be error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses from using them. Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law gives you.
