The Everyday Compass

Privacy policy

Effective October 29, 2026 · Cairn, Chuckbox, Haversack and the shared Everyday Compass household

This policy covers Cairn, Chuckbox and Haversack, on the web and on iPhone, the login and household they share with the other Everyday Compass apps, and this website. Operation Pathfinders has its own privacy policy (opens in a new tab) for the records it keeps, and Switchback Money has its own too. Questions, access, corrections or deletion: support@everydaycompasslife.com.

The short version: we keep what you type in so the apps work for your household. We don’t sell it, show ads or use tracking or analytics tools, and other households can’t see it.

What we keep

Your login and household (shared by every Everyday Compass app)

Cairn

If you create a sitter link, anyone who has the link can see the house info entries you marked to share, without signing in, until you turn the link off. We store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of the link, not the link itself. A Maintain cost is sent to Switchback only when you tap “Add to budget”.

If you paste a property listing, it is read in your browser and only the numbers it finds are saved; the text itself is not sent to us. The answers to the setup questions set your starting pace; we keep the pace, not the answers.

Chuckbox

When you import a recipe from a link, our server opens that page to read the recipe. The website sees a request from our hosting provider, not from your device, and we keep only the recipe you save.

Haversack

Each adult’s closet is visible only to that adult. Closets for kids, and for people without a login, are visible to the household’s owners, admins and members who can edit.

How we use it

Only to run the apps for your household: to sign you in, show the right household, build your cleaning plan and grocery list, keep people’s lists in step across devices and apps, run trials and memberships, send account emails, and answer support requests. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.

Who can see it

Service providers

ProviderWhat they do
SupabaseSign-in, the database, and the server functions (such as recipe import)
CloudflareHosts the websites and handles network traffic and security
ResendSends account emails such as sign-in links and codes
StripeTakes payment when you buy a membership on the website. Card details go to Stripe, never to us
RevenueCatKeeps track of memberships bought through the App Store, identified by your household’s ID, not your name or email
ExpoDelivers updates to the iPhone apps
AppleDistributes the iPhone apps through the App Store and TestFlight, takes payment for App Store purchases, and delivers notifications

Their systems keep ordinary network and security logs, which can include your IP address and device type, under their own terms.

On your device

The website keeps your sign-in session and the household you last opened in your browser’s storage. The iPhone apps keep your sign-in session on the phone. Signing out removes it. When you use the app switcher, your sign-in is handed to the next app inside the link it opens, so you don’t have to sign in again; that link is not stored.

If you turn on reminders, the app saves a notification token for your phone so we can send them (for example Cairn’s daily list and Maintain reminders). Signing out removes it.

Home Screen widgets show a short summary, such as today’s chores or tonight’s supper. The app keeps that summary on your phone for the widget to read; it is not sent anywhere and is cleared when you sign out.

Haversack uses the camera or your photo library only when you choose to add a photo of an item, and only that photo is uploaded. We do not use advertising, tracking or analytics tools, and the apps do not use your location, contacts, microphone or health data.

Kids

Cairn, Chuckbox and Haversack are for adults running a household. Kids don’t sign in to them; a parent can add a kid by name so jobs, meals and clothes can include them. A nickname works fine. Don’t enter anything about a child you wouldn’t want stored. Kid logins exist only in Operation Pathfinders, under its policy (opens in a new tab).

Keeping and deleting

We keep your records while your account exists. You can change or remove individual items in the apps at any time.

To delete your account, open Household → Your login → Delete account in Cairn, Chuckbox or Haversack, on the website or the iPhone app, and confirm with your password. This deletes your login and, for any household where you are the last adult with a login, that household and everything in it in every app, straight away. Deleting your login ends your access to every Everyday Compass app, because they share it. Where other adults remain, the household stays with them and your name comes off it. A membership for a household that is deleted is canceled. You can also ask us by email from the address you sign in with.

Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an App Store subscription; cancel it in your iPhone’s Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions. Stripe, Apple and RevenueCat may keep payment records they are required to keep. Backups and provider logs are erased on their normal schedules.

Changes

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and its date first, and tell you in the apps before any change that needs your agreement.
